Insurance Requirements


If your event is being catered and served, or if you are having a baptism or inflatables, etc…, prior to the issuance of the permit, you must provide insurance coverage that indicates:
  • a Comprehensive General Liability policy of no less than $1,000,000 of coverage per person/occurrence and aggregate naming the County of Chemung as an “Additional Insured” 
  • Chemung County must be listed as the certificate holder with the address of 203 Lake Street, P.O. Box 588, Elmira, NY 14902
  • The caterer or inflatable company should provide this insurance
  • If the caterer is just delivering the food and not serving, a Certificate of insurance is not required
 
If you are renting a tent or inflatables from another source, please contact the Caretaker, John Herrick at 607-732-1069 for Harris Hill, or Dave Kunzman at 607-481-8474 at Park Station, to discuss the delivery and placement of the tent or inflatables. Inflatables are only allowed at the Harris Hill Youth Camp, Harris Hill Outing Center and Park Station Pavilion 2
 
If alcohol will be present at your event, prior to the issuance of the permit, in addition to the above requirements you must also provide separate insurance coverage that indicates:
 
  • The Comprehensive General Liability policy must also include Host Liquor Liability Coverage
  • You can get this through online companies such as www.eventhelper.com
 
If a caterer will be furnishing the alcohol, the caterer must possess:
A NYS Liquor License and obtain an off premises permit through the NYS Liquor Authority.  Proof of such, must be provided to the Chemung County Buildings and Grounds Department, 217 Madison Ave, Elmira, NY 14901, prior to the event.
